JAIPUR: Under the Smart City Project, proposals have been invited for the revival of boating at Talkatora Lake, located in the Walled City of Jaipur. In addition to single-pedal and motor boats, the authorities are planning to introduce double-decker mini cruises, inspired by popular tourist destinations like Goa.

These double-decker mini cruises will offer tourists a unique experience, featuring a music party on the terrace and the provision of meals such as lunch, dinner, or breakfast.

A tender has been released for private operators to submit proposals for this venture. Once the tender process is complete, the finalized boating schedule and other details will be announced, with the possibility of commencing operations after the monsoon season.

The tender has sought proposals for two types of boating experiences. The double-decker boating will involve a small cruise-like boat, offering a music party and meals to the tourists. The proposed pricing range from Rs 250 to Rs 800 for Indian tourists and Rs 500 to Rs 1600 for foreign tourists.

Boating activities were previously initiated in 2015 during the Vasundhara Raje government’s tenure. However, the activity was suspended due to low water levels and environmental concerns caused by excessive pollution.

Under the Smart City Project, there are also plans to focus on promoting cycling in the Walled City area. As part of this plan, the construction of 50 cycle stands is proposed to facilitate tourists visiting the Parkota area.

These stands will provide ordinary as well as geared cycles for visitors to explore Parkota and its surroundings. Additionally, efforts will be made to repair and reopen existing cycle stands to enhance the cycling experience for tourists.
